King Door Company was originally established in Dalton, Georgia, in the early 1960s by H.C. “Red” King. After some time in the business, the company was sold to King’s first employee, Earl Eleton, a young man in his mid twenties. Earl Eleton’s first experience in the door industry came as a teenager working for Overhead Door Company of Hamilton, OH. In 1965, Eleton incorporated King Door Company in the state of Georgia.
Though the company has endured many ups and downs as any business would do, it has always been resilient through the tough times. In 1984, King Door suffered a devastating fire that almost destroyed the entire warehouse. Thankfully, no one was hurt in the fire but much was lost. Within a few years the building was rebuilt even adding new warehouse space with anticipation of growing the business to new heights.
Today, King Door Company Inc. is still an industry leader in industrial door and dock equipment sales, installation and service. The company also specializes in residential garage doors and operators. It employs a loyal, knowledgeable staff that has over a combined two hundred years of experience at King Door alone! Earl Eleton is very active in the business and is still a family owned and operated company.
